(Estherville)--Polls show Republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson and Democrat State Representative Josh Turek are locked in a tight race to become Iowa’s next U.S. Senator. In an interview with KILR News, Hinson says one of the issues she hears about most from Iowans on the campaign trail is rising healthcare costs. Hinson was asked how she would address the issue.
Hinson defended her support for new Medicaid work requirements.
Hinson says the only people no longer receiving benefits are illegal aliens and those who were gaming the system. She outlined her priorities after the U.S. House returns from its August recess.
Hinson criticized her opponent for the number of votes he has missed during his time in the Iowa House.
Hinson has represented Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District since January 2021.
