(Emmetsburg)--The Emmetsburg Community School District is making its third attempt to pass a bond issue to build a new elementary school. Emmetsburg Superintendent Cory Jenness says the first two bond issues received over 50-percent support but fell short of the 60 percent needed for approval.
Voters on Tuesday will decide the fate of a $25 million bond issue to replace the West Elementary School. Jenness says this bond issue includes a new location for the proposed elementary school and a lower property tax rate.
Jenness says the bond issue also includes plans on what to do with the current elementary school.
He says the bond should cover the entire project cost.
West Elementary School was built in 1952 with an addition added in 2013.
