Milford Woman Seriously Injured in Car-Semi Accident Near Everly

(Everly)--A Milford woman was seriously injured in a car-semi accident Friday morning north of Everly.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says the accident occurred shortly after 10:20 am at the intersection of Highway 18 and 130th Avenue. An investigation at the scene determined that 69-year-old Tammy Miesner of Milford was driving a 2019 Buick Envision westbound in the 1300 block of Highway 18. A 2019 Peterbilt semi and enclosed trailer operated by 38-year-old Tadas Mazuolis of Chicago, Ill was travelling northbound in the 3200 block of 130th Ave when they failed to obey the stop sign, entering the intersection. Miesner struck the trailer of the semi causing her vehicle to become entangled underneath.

Miesner was extricated from the vehicle by responding fire departments and taken to the Spencer Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Mazuolis was cited and released for failing to obey a stop/yield sign.

Assisting the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Iowa State Patrol, Everly Fire Department, Royal Fire Department, and Spencer Ambulance Service.
