According to the Spencer Police Department, at around 12:45 am, a complainant witnessed a motorcycle traveling westbound on Highway 18 through Ruthven at speeds estimated at over 100 mph.

Clay County Deputies and Spencer Police located the motorcycle at 250th Avenue and Highway 18. Spencer Police initiated a traffic stop in the 1200 block of 11th St Southeast but the driver, identified as 28-year-old Troy Peterson of Graettinger, accelerated and attempted to elude the officers.
