Iowa DOT Planning Improvements on Highway 18 in Palo Alto County

(Sioux City)--The Iowa Department of Transportation recently approved their 5-year Transportation Improvement Program for 2027-2031. One of the projects in 2027 will make significant improvements along US Highway 18 in Palo Alto County. DOT District 3 Transportation Planner Sarah Tracy.

 

 

 

 

Tracy says the first segment is seven-and-half miles between Emmetsburg and Ruthven.

 

 

 

 

She says the shortest segment will be a half mile through Cylinder.

 

 

 

 

Tracy says traffic during the project will be maintained with flaggers and pilot cars. She says all the work is planned for 2027.

 

 

 

 

The estimated cost of the project is about $9.7 million.
