(Algona)--Governor Kim Reynolds has signed the bill that's designed to extend nearly one-point-four billion dollars in state tax incentives to a company that plans to build a steel mill in Iowa. The plan easily cleared the Iowa House Friday afternoon on a 75 to 17 vote. Area State Representative Henry Stone, a Republican from Forest City, supported the measure.
The Senate passed the bill on a 28 to 19 vote. Stone says Mesabi plans to build the largest steel mill in the United States.
Stone says quite a few Democrats voted for the bill.
Stone made his comments on Saturday after participating in the Algona Band Days parade.
